Major Loss on Model Ship World

Model Ship World is probably the largest ship modeling blog site in existence. Well, it was until early this week.

The site was brought down to upgrade the software and revamp the look. Somehow, the hard drive crashed, though the official word is that it has nothing to do with the upgrading of the site. The crash that destroyed the data either destroyed the backup too, or there was no backup. So, apparently, everything ever written to that site is now gone.

I kept build logs and galleries of the NY Pilot Boat Mary Taylor,1850, and the Private Armed Schooner Lively, 1813, as well as build logs for my current projects, so those are all gone and I probably won’t try to rebuild those there. For the current projects, I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing at this point, but who knows? Maybe I’ll do all this on WordPress?

But, if you’re interested in reading about my Mary Taylor model, you should be able to read the equivalent of a build log, as an article I wrote should be appearing in Seaways’ Ships in Scale later this year.
